Keraton Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta Palace) is one of the old kingdom in Java that still exist until now. That buliding has been managed through the ages, including the Dutch colonial era. With a lot of pressure from everywhere, how did their dencendants mantenance their power in Java? Some people believe that it was not only because of their military power, but also because they got some help from the unseen world. They got help from ghost and genie.
People believe that all matters which related to Keraton is haunted. So, here four places related Keraton that are haunted.
1. South Coast region
South coast of Java island said to be inhabited by genie who led by Ratu Kidul. Parangkusumo (considered as the gate of the magical palace of South Sea), Parangtritis, the Langse cave (hermitage) are some places that haunted. Many people who drowned in the South Coast is said to be taken by Ratu Kidul. Many people who barve enough often meditate on that places.
2. Yogyakarta Palace
Keraton Yogya (Yogya Palace) is one of the oldest building in Indonesia. It is the palace of Yogyakarta Sultanate. If we visit the Keraton in the afternoon, we would never feel the eeriness. But if we visit the Keraton in the evening, we will see that this place is haunted. Many people believe that this place is guarded by powerful genie.
3. Kings Tomb
of Imogiri
Imogiri Tomb is the tomb of the kings of Mataram
to descendants of Yogyakarta and Surakarta Sultanate. To enter the tomb, we must wear special clothing and using special rules. We should not be acting offhanded in this tomb.
4. Mount Merapi, Yogyakarta
Every year Kraton held a ceremony to honor of Merapi guard. On Merapi, there are Pasar Bubrah (Bubrah Market). Bubrah market is the market of spirits and genie. At the top of the mountain there is a field where many climbers often hear hoofbeats, or see the palace. People believe it was the genie.
